IMMUCO – the Integrated Research Training Program of the SFB 633 „Induction and Modulation of T-cell-Mediated Immune Responses in the Gastrointestinal Tract“

IMMUCO provides a common framework for individual theses in accordance with the qualifications and research interests for students of medicine and natural sciences.

The interdisciplinary teaching program of IMMUCO comprises three different areas: A) Mucosale Immunology, B) Complementary Skills, and C) Additional Course Offerings. Section A) contains, on the one hand, specific courses that provide medical students with information in basic research and experimental approaches. On the other hand, students of natural sciences should gain insights into clinical aspects. Complementary skills of section B) contain basic techniques in immunology and a mandatory laboratory animal course. Dependent on the topic of their thesis, IMMUCO students choose courses, lectures, colloquia or symposia of other research institutes in Berlin, which are summarized in Block C) Additional Course Offerings.

Cooperating research groups at the Harvard Medical School in Boston provide the opportunity to gain international experiences.

Applications for a scholarship are evaluated and selected in a competitive multi-step central peer review procedure under participation of the Research Training Program coordinators and the individual project leaders.
