Analysis of the Antigen Specific Immune Response and Clinical Applications

Single cell rather than population-based analyses, such as flow-cytometry, are central technologies for the detailled understanding of the complex cellular network forming the immune system. Flow-cytometry allows to identify even small frequencies of single cells within a large population, such as antigen-specific lymphocytes, according to physical, phenotypical or functional characteristics. This seminar will give an introduction into flow-cytometry and cell sorting: The various parameters which can be addressed via flow-cytometry will be exemplified via the analysis of the antigen-specific immune response.
