Revolution in Innate Immunity and how this has Happened

Referent: Prof. Sergei Nedospasow

The idea of innate immune recognition of "pathogen non-self" by special classes of pattern-recognition receptors has gained full support from variety of genetic studies: from Drosophila to the man. The concepts and methods which led to these important advances in immunology will be discussed. In addition to Toll-like receptors, there are several additional important intracellular receptor families which can trigger both host defense and inflammation.
